The Waitlist

Q: Your shop isn't open yet, are you taking preorders?
A: No. Our team is currently prepping for launch in April 2026. Fresh produce comes in spring and our spice blends are worth the wait. Stay updated by joining the crew to get an alert the moment Back of House goes live.

Q: Where can I buy Back of House Spice Co. product?
A: You can find our collection of all natural spice blends and pantry staples exclusively on Back of House Spice Co.'s website. We ship nationwide, directly to your kitchen. If you want to see us in the wild with Chef Reactions, sign up and join the crew. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Q: Why spice blends?
A: Because most pantry staples are an afterthought. We're fixing that and will teach you how to build flavor your way, starting with our chef-grade spice blends.

Freshness & Quality

Q: How do I know if my spice blends are still fresh?
A: The easiest way? Smell and color. If your spices look faded and smell weak, they’ve probably lost their punch. Back of House spices are blended, sealed tight, shipped fresh, and built to be used regularly.

Q: Do spices really expire?
A: Technically, they don’t expire — but they can lose their soul. Most ground spices are stale within 6–12 months. We recommend restocking every 4 months.

Q: Are supermarket spices lower quality?
A: In most cases, yes. Big brands prioritize shelf life and volume over potency which usually means a mix of spices from different places. Our blends are small-batch, chef-approved, and don’t sit around collecting dust.

Q: What if salt is the first ingredient in a spice blend or rub?
A: If salt is listed as the first ingredient in a spice blend, it typically means salt is the most prominent ingredient in the mix. This isn’t necessarily bad — it depends on the intention of the blend. Our recipes focus on delivering fresh flavor, not salt as filler.

Q: Are your blends low sodium?
A: Yes. We’re light on the salt so you can be heavy on the flavor. You can always add salt, but you can't take it out once you’ve ruined the dish. We provide the profile; you control the seasoning.

Usage & Blending

Q: What’s a good kitchen staple for everyday cooking?
A: Salt and pepper. They go with everything — roasted veggies, eggs, meats, even snacks. Our Simply Salt and Pinch of Pepper were carefully selected for their level of ease and flavor. If you’re looking to enhance the flavor of daily recipes, we recommend using Vegged Out or Green Dream on everything.

Q: Can I use Back of House spice blends for grilling?
A: Our blends (like Smoke Break) are high-heat tested and designed to hold up under fire — whether you're on a charcoal grill, flat top, or cast-iron skillet. Tested. Re-tested. Cooked every way imaginable.

Q: I noticed my spice blend clumping over time — is that supposed to happen?
A: Totally normal. Because we skip additives and anti-caking agents, our blends can clump a bit over time — especially in humid kitchens. Just break it up with a shake or squeeze of the pouch. You can also pour some into your hand and sprinkle on your food. It's all part of keeping our spice blends clean and full of natural flavor.

Q: Are Back of House spice blends beginner-friendly?
A: Yes—our blends are built for flavor, not for flex. Whether you’re cooking your first meal or running the line, we teach you how to use the right flavors that you’ll restock over and over.

Storage & Shelf Life

Q: How should I store my spices?
A: Cool, dry, and dark spaces; usually in a pantry or cupboard. Avoid storing them above the stove or next to heat.

Q: How long do Back of House spice blends stay fresh?
A: Peak flavor lasts 4–6 months. Our packaging locks out light and moisture, but the rest is on you. Keep them sealed, cool, and away from the stove.
